Canon PIXMA TS7450 Driver Download

Canon PIXMA TS7450 Driver Download– Canon’s latest mid-range PIXMA all-in-one printer(opens in new tab) is available in black (TS7450) or white (TS7451).

Of course, they are both color printers, although the color gamut is not as wide as many PIXMA printers, which combine pigment-based black ink for pin-sharp black-and-white printing of documents with dye-based CMYK inks for color photos.

Instead, this printer has a pigment-based black ink cartridge and a dye-based tri-color cartridge with cyan, magenta, and yellow inks. Therefore, photo prints’ dark tones must be produced using only the three colored inks to generate ‘composite black,’ resulting in a lack of contrast, vibrancy, and a relatively limited color range. But more on that later.

Canon PIXMA TS7450 Specifications:

  • Inks/Type: Pigment black cartridge, dye tri-color cartridge

  • Maximum print resolution: 5800x1200dpi
  • Input Trays: Front Cassette, Rear Tray
  • Scanner: A4/Letter with 35-sheet ADF, 1200 x 2400 dpi
  • Screen: OLED, 1.44 inch
  • Interfaces: USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
  • Dimensions (WxDxH) : 403x364x206mm, 8.2kg

Functions

As a ‘work from a home wireless printer(opens in new tab), there’s a great feature set that works well for everything from printing black and white and color documents to scanning and photocopying single or multi-page paperwork to doing homework for children.

It’s not all work and no play, as Canon’s Creative Park is fully supported. Throw away the paper, and you can make fun things from T-shirt transfers, photo stickers, and magnetic photos to greeting cards, cutting projects, and more.

In most respects, the printer is properly connected. It has the standard USB port on the back, plus built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Installation is particularly easy, with the option to scan a QR code on your smartphone or tablet for an online tutorial on the full setup.

The link goes even further, allowing you to quickly and easily connect the printer with your smartphone or tablet.

The printer is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice commands. Apple AirPrint and Android Mopria are also directly supported.

The onboard controls are simple and intuitive for various tasks, supported by a 1.44-inch OLED display. The screen can also display OLED codes for functions such as accessing the online manual via a smartphone or tablet. Another new feature is an illuminated LED status bar that runs across the printer’s front panel, so you can check print status, check for errors or see if replacement cartridges are needed at a glance.

Performance

Compared to printers with separate cartridges for each ink, printers with two cartridges are often criticized because if you use a lot of a particular color, you throw away ink as part of a tri-color cartridge. On the plus side, ordering supplies is relatively easy, with only two cartridges in total.

The printer comes with a standard capacity PG-560 black and CL-561 tri-color cartridges. If you stick to this when ordering, the printing costs are a bit on the high side. The standard black cartridge has enough ink for 180 black and white pages, which equals 8p per page.

The tri-color cartridge should last 180 color pages or 76 6×4 photos, costing about 8p and 20p, respectively. Switch to ‘XL’ cartridges, and you’ll get enough ink for 400 black and white pages (5p each), 300 color pages (6p each), or 118 6×4 photos (15p each).

The pigment black ink cartridge is not used in photo printing. As we mentioned, you rely solely on cyan, magenta, and yellow inks to form the full-color space of a photographic image.

The printer does a decent job, but compared to Canon’s 5-ink Pixma printers and Epson’s more specialized 6-ink photo printers, the photo output looks a bit tacky. Colors lack vibrancy, from skin tones in portraits to the rich tones of landscape photos.

The contrast is also relatively poor. Light areas look washed out, and dark areas have little depth. Printing black and white photos look serious about drama.

On the plus side, printing black and white documents look crisp and detailed, and color documents also look very attractive. Print speeds are reasonable for documents, which amount to about 13 pages per minute for black and white and seven pages per minute for color.

Automatic two-sided printing is available for two-sided printing, but you cannot use the ADF to automatically scan or copy existing two-sided documents. The copy speed of A4 is approximately 20 seconds per page, increasing to 4 pages per minute when using the ADF.

Verdict

The Canon Pixma TS7450 is a highly competent printer for working from home, suitable for pupils, students, and adults alike. It has a neat set of intuitive features and is very easy to live with.

Print speeds aren’t particularly fast, but running costs are reasonable, especially for a two-cartridge printer that doesn’t have separate cartridges for each ink.

Black and white and color documents are of very good quality, and in our tests, the ADF worked well even with letters received by post with one or more folds. The only real flaw is that the print quality of photos is mediocre, with a lack of vibrancy and contrast. Still, the printer is good value for money.
