I found that with my old HP all-in-one printer that used ink cartridges, I was wasting money on ink. I don’t need the fax function so this particular model seems perfect to me.

The setup is relatively easy for me. I currently have a wireless network running all my devices. I run the Mac OSX operating system on my MacBook Pro and Mac Mini. I also use iOS on my mobile device. Printing via AirPrint from my iPhone 6S Plus and iPad is super easy! I love that I can print anywhere in my house wirelessly because it’s so convenient not to be hampered by cables.
I downloaded the driver from the canon com ijsetup site for this printer but I’m not sure that’s the thing to do. I believe that this particular printer can be set up without those drivers as I think they are pre-installed on OSX. From opening the box to printing my first test document, I was up and running in about 20 minutes without needing any outside help. This time includes time to remove my old inkjet printer and clean the area I will be installing this new printer. I’m not a Windows PC user so I have no experience setting up that operating system. I turn on the Power Save option to help me save money on my electricity bill, but still, be able to print quickly as needed from one of my computers or mobile devices.

Print quality is just right for me. I am used to using inkjet style printers and coming to this laser printer was a big step for me in the quality department especially when printing documents that contain a lot of text. Printouts are sharp and clear even at the default printer settings at least on my particular printer.

I have scanned some documents. After making a quick adjustment to the DPI settings, the document appears to be scanned at a very high quality. I’m currently scanning documents in either 150 DPI or 300 DPI settings and I’m very impressed with the quality of the scans using these settings. I love how on my Mac, I can easily save a document as a PDF and then print a copy or e-mail the document as needed.

As I stated earlier, the inkjet printer system I have is no longer something I feel comfortable using, it even seems like a waste of my hard-earned money. I’m tired of always paying what seems like a lot of money to print a few documents here and there and then come back and find the ink cartridges clogged or dry when I need to use them again. The nice thing about this printer is that I was told that the Canon 137 toner cartridge will never dry out like an inkjet cartridge.
