The TS6350 is the latest upper-mid range of MFP inkjet in Canon’s greenest PIXMA line. This replaces TS6250, and while we’re used to printers getting a light refresher over the old model, TS6350 is quite a departure. Gone is his predecessor Full-Width, tilted Control Panel. Instead, TS6350 has an amazingly asymmetrical front panel that brings us back to the 1990’s years.
Features
But, while italics look not bad, TS6350 seems to have taken a small step backward regarding features. Instead of the color touch screen, there is a small Mono display and a button scattering. More importantly, with more basic controls, this MFP supports fewer advanced services: Although you can print with Google Cloud Print, for example, you can’t scan directly to online services like Dropbox, a feature we usually expect from this price.
Fortunately, this core MFP specification remains pretty good. On the base, there are up to 100 sheets of plain A4 paper tapes, while the rear tray can take another 100 or up to 20 pieces of photo paper.
Cleverly, the Printer uses the rear tray paper guide position to guess which paper size you load. There is support for automatic two-sided (duplex) printing, and the paper output tray is open and closed.
The Printer uses Canon’s five-ink setup, which pairs black pigment ink with black ink, Cyan, Magenta, and dye-based yellow, to combine four-color photo printing with bold black text.
It works well, but it’s a shame that Canon is still not introducing physical keying to prevent you from mixing color cartridges. All five cartridges are available in standard sizes, XL and XXL. Calculated for the latter, the color component of a graphical page and the mixed text is 5.8 p which is quite low, but at 3.1 p, the black components are relatively expensive.

Performance
This is not a very fast text printer, giving us the Mono letter test at just 11.4 pages per minute (ppm), up to 12.7 ppm in draft mode. The color graphics are fast. However, with the challenging test, we arrived at 3.7 ppm.
Photo Printing is fast enough: even at the highest possible quality, every 10x15cm photo is completed in less than two minutes. One photocopy of A4 takes only 20 seconds or more black or color.
When tested over a wireless connection, the scan speed was disappointing. TS6350 completes the preview in just eight seconds, but it requires 30 seconds to capture the A4 document at 300 dots per inch dpi). It dropped to just 16 seconds via a USB connection, but the photo scan is 1, 200dpi still takes more than a minute.
It is almost impossible to fault this quality MFP fingerprint, scan, and photocopy. The black text is almost as sharp and dark as you get from inkjet, while the graphic prints are punchy and smudge-free. The photo, too, is detailed and sharp, though the blue sky in one shot has some subtle blotches; Not the issue we saw from other latest PIXMA printers. The scans are excellent, with a sharp focus, accurate colors, and a wide dynamic range.
Verdict
Overall, there’s a lot to like about TS6350. It’s a decent MFP, but it’s also quite expensive. At this price, we usually expect more features or faster performance.
