Canon Pixma MG6856 is a decent printer, provided you don’t need every refinement it offers top Wireless all-in-one printers like faxing or wired networks, as you would find with our best all-in-one comprehensive printer, HP OfficeJet Pro. Missing features aside, it’s one of the best home inkjet printers We’ve reviewed, with better than average document and photo listing that stands with the best printers we’ve reviewed.
In our study, Pixma printed documents with clear, readable text that is mostly without noticeable errors. We see some ink stains, but only with great magniation. Photo quality ranked among the best in our review. The only real problem with Pixma’s Printing is the average print speed and print resolution, which is lower than other top-rated inkjet printers. Documents and images scanned with Pixmas ‘ open-air scanner are a pretty good quality, but copying the quality leave a lot to be desired thanks to the lower print resolution.
Canon provides top quality photos with other black cartridge ink, a black ink dye that is better suited for photography. This fifth cartridge combines the standard color used in print documents (black, cyan, magenta and yellow), which all together on average up to a price of 18 cents per page when purchased by the manufacturer-suggested retail price. It’s not a fantastic-category average is 15 cents per page – but it may be worth it for top quality photography. Canon does not offer any high-capacity bullets for this model printer, so it is stuck with the standard size and cost. The printer’s 100-page paper tray is average for Home inkjet printer, and it also has a dedicated tray for photo paper, which keep up to 20 sheets.
Pixma lacks some key features, but if you don’t need them, saving is worth it. Firstly, there is no wired network option, leaving you stuck with Wi-Fi only. Furthermore, despite being sold as an all-in-one printer, there is no fax option. They may not be a foundational function for you, but their failure is significant compared to other multifunction printers.
Another fee is the lack of a USB port, which means you can not print from the flash drive. Wireless PictBridge cameras can be connected to the printer, but not for wired cameras. Yes, however, have an integrated card slot for SD card (including SD, SDHC and SDXC format) and Sony’s Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro Duo.
It has good connectivity options for smartphones and tablets, thanks to Apple AirPrint for iphones and ipads and Google Cloud Print for Android devices. You can also print Wireless via Mopria-Certified Apps and Canon’s own app, the Canon Inkjet/selphy.
